All about Bobbi!

March 29th, 2010

I did a great event this past weekend for the wonderful prestigious line Bobbi Brown, and I loved it. This was my first event with the line so I was super nervous but all the other makeup artist were fantastic they really made me feel at home. The wonderful people who work for the line have blown me away . They don’t just see it as a pay check they see it as a lifestyle, as if they were Bobbi brown themselves. I connected with the line instantly, it wasn’t about sales, it was about really caring about the makeup and the woman in your chair! I havent been that excited about makeup in a while.

We got the great pleasure to work with one of Bobbi’s global artist, her name was Tia. I mean this woman works next to Bobbi herself and she’s there at fashion week. You name a fashion event she’s there. So needless to say I was very nervous, but what do you know,  she was amazing. Not at all like what I was expecting! Tia was a pleasure to work with, I feel very privileged to have been able to learn from her. I took away so much from her in just two short days.

So if you’re looking for a fantastic cosmetic line that you can trust from the foundation all the way  to the lash curler and don’t want a sales person pushing product down your  throat than Bobbi Brown is the one for you.

Changing Paths

March 23rd, 2010

Hello everyone, so I started this blog to talk about makeup and to help women learn and be excited about makeup. The problem seems that I’m not connecting with my own blog. Don’t get me wrong. I love makeup and I love the women I get to work with but you see I need something to give me that push to wright. Not to mention, recently I lost my full time job that I’ve had for a very long time. It’s hard to figure out how to restart my life. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would get fired! So I have to pick up the pieces and just immerse myself in Makeup! So far so good , I’ve been getting jobs and I’m getting to work with some great companies. I feel that recent events will allow me to be more honest with all of you.
I want to take all of you along with me on job sites, weddings and when I travel to far off places. This will hopefully help you understand me and understand why makeup is so important to me.

P.S. Have fun with makeup today! :)

HELP!! I need skincare! Part 1

March 3rd, 2010

I realize there are so many  different products and skin treatments out there, and it can be really overwhelming  to find one thats right for you. So i am here to try and help you find your perfect product, remember this may take some time. Make sure you go some where you can actually try the product before you buy it. Most companies will offer samples.

Lets start with cleansers, because this is one of the most important steps in your daily skincare, especially if you wear makeup. Good news is that cleansers are usually the easier part of this search.

If you have oily skin then you really want to find something that foams up, so it makes your skin feel cleaner. Also look for a cleanser that has a percentage of glycolic acid this will cleanse your skin without drying and tighten the pores. Most companies have there skincare separated into oily, normal, and dry so it shouldn’t be hard for you to find a good one that is right for you.

Here are a few of my favorites.

If you have sensitive skin you might want to use a product like Clarins Water Purify one step cleanser. If you don’t have sensitive skin then Lancome’s Gel Pure Focus cleanser is also good.

For all of you with normal combination skin types you should be looking for something that is cleansing but does not dry the skin. Look for moisturizing elements this will help prevent drying.

For those of you with dry skin ( i feel your pain) then you really want to find either a lotion cleanser that you can just wipe off with a tissue or something with a very mild exfoliator.

I love Aveeno’s moisturizing face bar or Kiehls  which is great for sensitive skin.

I really hope this has given you a little more confidence about shopping for you perfect cleanser.

Stay tuned for part 2 when i go over moisturizers.

“Is a pricey mascara really necessary?”

February 5th, 2010

So many times i have been asked” is it really necessary to buy a 20 or 30 dollar mascara”. Well it all depends on the person buying the mascara. Say for instance  you have very sensitive eyes, then you probably want to insure you are getting a quality product thats not going to cause any irritation. If you are someone who doesn’t worry sensitivity than you could probably get away with using a product from your local drug store. If you have a Target around you even better because they offer some really  great product lines like Jemma Kidd and Sonia Kashuk.

Or if your like me and you love love love eye makeup than you probably already have a few favorites. My favorite mascaras are Lancome’s oscillation, or Makeup Forever’s Smokey lash, you can get these at a department store or just go to my store link to get it sent straight to you. But remember never keep a tube of mascara longer than 6 months, they dry out and you never want to use an old product period especially if its your eye area.

Peacock Feather Inspired Eyes

January 26th, 2010

I started by taking Amanda’s makeup off with Estee Lauder’s take it away lotion makeup remover.
You always want to use a good moisturizer before applying your makeup for Amanda I used Estee Lauder’s Hydrationist.
For her  foundation I used Giorgio Armani’s fluid sheer foundation in shade 2, this is a great foundation for anyone with dryer skin it has a very dewy finish. I applied it with the Giorgio Armani’s foundation blender brush this brush is made with sable hair so blending is much easier. I used Estee Lauder’s double matte powder in transparent to set the foundation. On her eyebrows I used Bare Esentuals brunette brow powder with Bare Esentuals brow brush. I find that using a powder for the brows is much easier and give a more natural look.

For the eyes I started out with M.A.C.’s Paint pot Painterly to insure the eyeshadow stayed in place. I used a concealer brush to apply it. Then I used M.A.C.’s  eyeshadow in nylon all over as a highlight using Bare Esentuals flathead eyeshadow brush. On her inner eyelid I used M.A.C.’s chrome yellow eyeshadow then blended M.A.C.’s teal pigment on the rest of the lid.
For the darker crease color I used M.A.C.’s plumage eyeshadow and to blend it all together I used M.A.C.’s #217 brush. For eyeliner I used M.A.C.’s power point eye pencil in jade. I lined the inner and outer of her bottom lash line then smudged it out with my finger. On the cheeks I used Cargo’s blue ray peach highlighter with a Bare Esentual’s bronzer brush.
For Amanda’s mascara I used Lancome’s oscillation, I find that this mascara is great for going out, it has a very black look and thickens the lash’s nicely.
On the lips I wanted to stay neutral so I used Estee Lauder’s rose amethyst lipstick which is a nice pale pink color. For lip gloss I used cupcake from Bare Esentuals.

My Favorite Mineral Foundation

January 12th, 2010
Bare Mineral SPF Foundation, Bare Escentuals

Bare Mineral SPF Foundation, Bare Escentuals

If you have any sensitivity or redness on your face, or if you just don’t like to spend too much time on your makeup in the morning then Bare Escentuals  is the foundation for you.

Since the 70′s Bare Escentuals has been making great all-natural products, but just recently they have gained a lot of fame for there all-natural full coverage foundation.

This is a wonderful feeling foundation, it never feels like you have much of anything on your face or that you are wearing a mask like it happens with many other foundations. It’s also very easy to apply and very affordable. You can get a light to full coverage without it ever looking heavy in just a few seconds.

This product is also great for those of you just starting to wear makeup. The three step method of swirl, tap, buff is so easy you’ll become a pro in no time.

If you don’t mind the loose powder (which can be a mess at times) then you might want to consider this product when you run out of what your using now.

Get it on
